I’ve Won The Honest Scrap Award

Friends, neighbors and the guy who just walked into the room, gather ’round, for I have been honored with the Honest Scrap Award.  This award was given to me by fellow NaNoWriMo winner and MUSE Conference attendee, Helen H. David (@hhdavid65) of Ink In My Sweet Tea.  When I first saw the image, I didn’t get it.  When I thought about for a minute or two, it made sense.  It’s a scrap of truth about me.  Honest and unadulterated.  Well, maybe adulterated, but honest none the less.

Here’s the guidelines for the Honest Scrap Award:

1. List 10 honest things about yourself (make it interesting, even if you have to dig deep!)
2. Pass the award on to 7 bloggers (I hope I don’t pass it to someone who already has it!)

Ten Truths About Me:

1. I love cats, but sometimes hate it when they get in their needy moods.
2. My earliest writing memory is of me making a book complete with illustrations and yarn binder.  I was probably about 4-5 years old.
3. I have always loved to create.  Whether it’s a story, a bottle of luscious lotion, knitting or scrapbooking.  I love to create.
4. I dream of traveling outside of the country and haven’t made it past Jamaica because I really don’t like to fly.
5. I blew an opportunity to be mentored by Sonia Sanchez when I attended Temple University.  It took me the entire semester to ask her and she said yes.  After that, I decided that my work was crap and it would be a waste of her time to show up at her door with it in my hands.
6. I love the solitude of writing poetry.
7. I am working on having a stronger relationship with God.  I once had it and feel I have dropped the ball somewhere.  I desperately want that back.
8. I can’t figure out why I always feel like I’m on the cusp of success, but never make it across the threshold.
9. I’m conflicted about whether I want to get the business up and going again or just do something different.  Praying for direction with that one.
10. I love ice cream in the winter, especially right after a snow storm.  I crave it!
