Knit Princess is the adventure of a knitting obsessed, movie loving, unemployed girl. Come see how she deals with unemployment, power outages, cat drama, and her long suffering roommate.

And, who can resist the tagline: The power of yarn compels you. Go check it out for yourself. It’s a nice break in the day.

After a trip to Michaels and A.C. Moore yesterday, I was inspired to go through all of my patterns and pick out yarn from my stash that I’ll need to complete them. Eventually I want to go through them all again since the first time I didn’t think I had the exact yarn the pattern called for, when I actually have the weight and blend recommended. So far I have 5 projects bagged and ready to go.

Then I realized it’s been awhile since I last posted about my knit projects and wanted to take a minute to get you caught up. So, here’s what’s on my needles right now.

Chemo Sessions Scarf

The first thing is my Chemo Sessions Scarf. I started this scarf back in December when mom started her chemo sessions. I’m using regular worsted weight yarn, probably Red Heart, in a variegated blue and a solid blue. I want to add a softer yarn and a lighter color to the mix.

I was going to knit during all of her sessions while talking and teaching my aunt how to knit. Well, my aunt one took on one lesson, the chemo sessions ended, but we’re still going for the herceptin(sp?) treatments and the knit bag was mysteriously tossed into the bottom of the closet during one of my “cleaning” moments.

I recently dug it out and plan to frog it, change the pattern and have it completed by her last session next month. How do I plan to accomplish this? By using size 17 needles of course. I should be able to get the scarf completed during the last two sessions.

Clapotis

This is a knit along I’m doing with one of my groups on Ravelry.com. I bought a boucle yarn to make this, but it was too hard to see the stitches. I’m now using a mixed wool blend in variegated lavender and black. This pattern is kicking my butt!! It seems like every section I complete, and there are 5, the next one is a dozy right from the start. I had to put this one down for a bit and will come back to it later.

Afghan Sampler

Next up is the afghan sampler. I started this last year when I got my Knitty Gritty Knits (DIY): 25 Fun & Fabulous Projects (DIY Network) book and planned to knit it for me instead of gifting it to a friend or relative. Then I came up with the bright idea of making gifts for Christmas. You know the rest.

So far I have 5 of the 11 squares I need for 1 of the 5 different stitch squares that will make up the blanket. I’m using Red Heart camouflage variegated in pink along with complimentary colors found in the yarn. I do plan to get this finish sometimes this year. I hope.

Luxurious Wrap

This one is a pattern a started last year from the book Knit Ponchos, Wraps & Scarves. I absolutely love the color and softness of this yarn! It’s a soft rose/pink with little blobs of silver glitter yarn going through it. The best part is I found this yarn at the $1 Store. So I paid $12 for the project instead of $60. Is that a great find or what!

I leave it at work so I can knit during lunch. I may need to eventually bring it home since I’ve been running out of time gabbing so much while eating. For now, I’ll leave it there, talk less and knit more.

I’ll snap a shot later and post it.

Washcloth

I just started this one over the weekend before I decided to take on a super secret project for next month. These are pretty easy to make and knit up quickly. I’m using 100% cotton in a cream color. Eventually I will make these in organic cotton and a softer chenille.

Right now, I’m just making them here and there when I have a free moment. I plan to sell them during the holiday craft show at the end of the year. Might as well start early right?

This isn’t the color I’m using now, but it’s the same pattern.

9×9 Afghan Square

This is a simple 9×9 square I’m making for my co-worker. She belongs to an organization who’s collecting them to make afghans for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. I’m knitting this on #35 needles and only during lunch to keep me from eating more than I need. For this I’m using some left over blue fun fur along with worsted weight yarn I had left over from the Cigarette Burns Scarf.

I’ll snap a shot later and post it.

Crochet Blanket

This is my first crochet project since I retaught myself 3 years ago (wow, has it been that long?). For some reason I cannot get through this blanket. I really believe it’s too big of a project for me since I get bored after one row of 300 stitches. This was originally a gift for my Aunt Glo, but later I decided to keep it. The plan was to crochet while watching television. Two years later, it just sits downstairs waiting for me to finish it.

Sorry, this is a bad shot. I haven’t found a way to take a picture of red without it coming out scary.

Super Secret Surprise

I can’t tell you much about this one because, well, it’s super secret and a surprise. I will tell you that I think it will knit up fairly quickly and will be given as gifts next month. This one has been moved to the top of the project list.

That’s it for now. I know, that’s enough to make you’re head spin.

What’s on your needles? Share in the comments below.

I bought a book titled Knit Ponchos, Wraps & Scarves last year and picked out which scarves I would make for gifts. The problem was everything looked gorgeous. The yarns used were exquisite and on a different level than the Red Heart yarn I was used to using. But, in order to work your way up the yarn chain, you have have to buy that first skein.

I spent the year trying out new patterns and learning new stitches. Some projects were a bit tougher than others and took a while longer for me to wrap my brain around. I had so much trouble reading one of the patterns that it took 2-3 months to complete (last track of time with that one). Another I was able to knit in 5 hours. 5 hours! I was amazed that I could anything that quickly.

So, let me tell you what I made, who it was made for and how I got through it.

This time out I’m going to try the Cameo Faggot Stitch Scarf again.

This time I’m using Wool-Ease Super Bulky in Blossom and Print Fun Fur in Tropical on size 17 needles.

The pattern calls for 18 stitches to cast on, but because I’m using super bulky yarn, I’m going to cut it down to 12. You can track my progress in the left sidebar.

Get the pattern on Ravelry by clicking the download button below. You will need to login to add it to your que.
