Bring In That Springtime Bliss

Today is officially the first day of spring. The sun is shining, the birds are singing and we can finally come out of hibernation. Spring is a time to renew and replenish our bodies and emotional state after such a long winter. This is one season I really enjoy because you get to experience the rebirth of the earth and all living things.

What other season starts the process of reawakening your senses after a long sleep? Spring is a time when flowers and trees begin to bud. And, it’s also a time for you to shake off all the winter weather humdrums. I, for one, have suffered from this past winter’s weather flip flopping from day to day and I am happy to see it go. While the earth is regenerating itself, you can do the same.

Do some spring-cleaning: Clean out the old to make way for the new. I am an admitted clutter bug and one of my many goals this spring is to clean out the clutter. Fire up your aroma lamp and add a few drops of lemon, lime and grapefruit essential oils to the water and start cleaning. Get rid of those things you haven’t used in the last few years and donate unworn clothes to woman and children shelters. Not only will this free up your physical space, it will do the same for you mentally.

Cleaning House: Vacuuming, washing down woodwork and refreshing your linen. Blah, you either love it or you don’t. Personally, I don’t. So, why not turn that chore you hate into a Scentual one? The next load you put into the wash, add a few drops of lavender to a scent of freshness to your wash. You can also add a dash of lemon (or your favorite essential oil) to a cotton ball and put it into your vacuum bag. Now, you can pick up dust and release a fresh scent instead of that old vacuum cleaner smell. Finally, add some grapefruit and lemon essential oils to your cleaning water before you begin to wash down the woodwork.

Clean your mental house: One thing I have learned, and continue to learn, is that tomorrow is never promised to you. It’s time now to clean out all the mental baggage that is holding you down and polluting your spirit. Think to yourself, when it’s all said and done, will this really matter tomorrow? Most of the time the answer is no. Let go of the pain of the past and open yourself to today. Some essential oils that are good for your emotional health are bergamot, petitgrain, geranium and neroli. Use them in your aromalamp or diffuser and inhale deeply. Visualize all the good and wonderful things that springtime brings going into your body. Exhale, visualizing all the pain from your past being released from you along with the bad air.

Springtime can mean many different things to each one of us. What will this spring hold you?

Spread the love
