Creating Sacred Time: Rosemary & Sage Herbal Bath
As wonderful as it feels to be pampered and cared for by someone else, we can’t neglect ourselves when that extra set of hands aren’t available. Create sacred me time to help you rejuvenate, revive or relax.
After a long day or week for that matter, my favorite thing to do is to take an herbal bath soak. The act of submerging myself in water instantly make my body relax and the tension begins to ease. I lay my head on my bath pillow, close my eyes and exhale. It’s so relaxing and it makes me slow down, quiet my thoughts, and just be.
Baths are more than just one more way to get clean. It’s a time to sit and let the waters wash over you and remove the stresses of the day. Here is an herbal bath recipe to get you shooting on all cylinders again.
Invigorating Rosemary & Sage Herbal Bath
- 1/4 cup dried rosemary (relieves mental fatigue)
- 1/4 cup dried sage (treats loss of concentration)
- 2 tablespoons of oatmeal (softens the water)
- 1 cup of Epsom salts (removes toxins and tension in the body)
- 2-3 drops of rosemary essential oil
- re-usable muslin sack or cloth pouch of some kind
Mix your ingredients in a bowl and add to the sack. While the bath water is running, drop the sack into the bathtub near the faucet. Putting the sack in early gives the salts time to dissolve and the herbal time to steep. Once your water has reached the desired level, turn off and give your water a little stir before getting in. Once you’ve entered the bath, relax, close your eyes and inhale. Allow yourself 15-20 to let your body relax and release tension before washing. The herbal sack can now be used as an exfoliating herbal wash sack.
Once you’ve finished your bath, empty sack of herbs into the trash and allow the sack to air dry so it will be ready to use for that next relaxing bath.
