A new day
Blissful Living

I’m about to do something brand-new!

Happy new year!

It is officially 2020 and I am so happy that the new year has finally rolled in. 2019 was a challenging year for me and it kept me away from doing a lot of things that I had planned due to physical challenges and work. But, I was able to learn from all of those challenges I went through last year and I’m looking forward to sharing those things with you in the coming year.

I’m also super excited to see how God is going to move not only in this new year but in this new decade. And I am ready to move right along with him because I’m ready for new.

In Isaiah 43, God says,

“Forget about what’s happened; don’t keep going over old history. Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new. It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it? There it is! I’m making a road through the desert, rivers in the badlands. Wild animals will say ‘Thank you!’ —the coyotes and the buzzards— Because I provided water in the desert, rivers through the sun-baked earth, Drinking water for the people I chose, the people I made especially for myself, a people custom-made to praise me.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭43:16-21‬ ‭MSG‬‬

God is looking to do something new not only in this new year but in this new decade and he,  as always, invites you to be a part of that. And so I’m excited for you as well as we move through the beginning of it all.

Change can be hard

Having said that, I know new and change can be disorienting, disruptive, debilitating, and sometimes, if you’re holding on to old tight enough, it can feel downright violent. And that’s because sometimes it’s hard to let go of certain things. it’s hard to let go of the past. It’s hard to let go of the things that we have grown accustomed to. But God is saying look we’re gonna leave all of that in the past because I need to do something new. I need you to do something new. I need to move you into a new place and new level which will require you to stop operating from the past. That worked for where you were but God is moving you into a place of new.

All that newness takes us out of our comfort zone and familiar places. the newness will require us to hear differently, see differently, and experience things differently. God is saying stop looking for me to do it the same way I did it in the past. I’m doing something brand new and if you blink you’ll miss. If you’re still one foot in the past, you won’t be able to run with it. You’re being called to be present in this new time. be present in this new space. God said, what I’m gonna do is so amazing that even the animals will say thank you. Now, I can’t even imagine what that’s going to look like but I am more than excited to see it! But, it requires you to be present and shift.

I believe God is encouraging us to stop looking at the past because we tend to spend too much time there. We marinate on it, we sit in it, we keep an account from it. And, we live out of that old place that no longer serves us or God.

Change how you think

Proverbs 23:7 tells us:

“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.
“Eat and drink!” he says to you,
But his heart is not with you.”

We wear the mask. And, that’s what we do a lot of the time, right? We put on this mask of joy but it’s not real because we’re counting up the cost of “being real” based on past experiences. Will it cause pain as it did before? Will it leave me alone again? Will it humiliate me? Will it….I’ll let you fill in the negative self-talk blank.

God wants us to stop living out of our past and experience this life differently with a fresh new wind in your sails. God is saying leave the past where it is…in the past. It’s time to start living in that place of new.

Aromatherapy Support

Now, because change can be hard I wanted to start this year off with aromatic support right from the beginning. The essential oil that I am going to recommend for this month of January is Bergamot essential oil. Check out my post about Bergamot to see how this essential oil can aromatic support uring this shift and change.
